TNG #7 - Away Team Store/Credits

A new way to gain Ship BPs, but another currency. This one is a good one though. Run enough Away Team Missions to collect credits and redeem them in the store for faction reputation or ship blueprints. Here is a chart showing the costs below. As a players level increases, more ships become available.

TNG #6 - Officer Traits

Officer abilities have been expanded to include "Traits" that are used to enhance the Critical Chance of reward on Away Team Missions. Of course, this means there is another currency to gather. This time it is Trait XP, which is acquired from a daily goal (complete an away mission), the Store, or various event rewards.

Players will want to pay attention to the Away Team missions they regularly launch and the rewards they are going for to prioritize the Officer Traits. One example would be to focus on the "Assimilated" Trait for better NanoProbe payouts when those missions come up.

Some missions require Traits that are the 2nd or 3rd of that officer. Until the previous Trait is unlocked, the subsequent Trait will be locked.  Example: Miner is a 2nd Trait

This will also improve payouts for new missions that yield Away Team Credits

When selecting the crew for a mission, Do Not Stack Officer Traits, as they will not stack points. They will only use the highest one. 

Trait XP is gained by completing an Away Team mission once a day, and collecting from the daily goal. 

As for which officers to spend Trait XP on first, look at the Away Missions that are most ran, and check the Traits required for the Critical Rewards. The Higher the Mission Class, the higher the Officer Class required for the trait to be in the 1st one on the officer list.

If a mission shows up that looks like the following, stop everything, and put on your best officers.

Personally, I plan to focus on officers with the following Tier 1 Traits (your focus may vary):

Pilot (Chen, Hakaru Sulu)

Augment (Pan)

Assimilated (10of10)
Surveyor (Barot)

The key is to pick officers to spend Trait XP on that will benefit the player the most. The player level and focus ultimately will drive that focus. Because of this, it is impossible to give universal advise to all players on how to use Trait XP. Take a look at the charts below to see the various missions and the traits required to get improved Critical Chances and better rewards. 

Each Trait XP point adds to the total chance of Critical Success and better rewards. This is in a linear fashion, and max chance can be predicted. I have worked to add projection numbers to the mission chart showing how much each Trait XP point adds to the Critical Chance.
